Thank you for supporting young birders as they explore options for their future.
We are excited to bring the third annual Frontiers in Ornithology: A Symposium for Students— an unprecedented symposium held for young people with an interest in ornithology and related fields of study, to the west coast. The event will be held on October 4, 2025 at The Mountaineers Seattle Program Center, Seattle, WA.
The primary mission of this event is to focus on ornithology and conservation science. The symposium does not focus on birding, bird identification techniques, or listing birds, but instead on cutting-edge technologies being used in avian research and study, careers in ornithology, and how to pursue that focus in either higher education or vocationally. The symposium also provides opportunities for understanding and promoting involvement in conservation science initiatives.
While the symposium specifically targets students and organizations based in the Pacific Northwest region, there are no geographical boundaries for those wishing to attend or support this symposium. Participants from our inaugural event came from 14 different states!
Collaboration from many organizations is a vital part of this event in order to support aspiring young people and also provides an opportunity to connect many organizations together.
